Joe DeNucci fights a draw with Joey Giardello in a middleweight fight at Boston Garden.

[12/9] DeNucci, a resident of Newton and the future Massachusetts state auditor, fights a 10-round draw with Giardello. DeNucci later says, “I thought I won the fight. It was my best moment in boxing ever. I was going back to my corner and my father and Rocky Marciano were together in the corner, raising their hands, saying ‘You won, you did it.’ Of course I didn’t get the decision. They called it a draw.”
